Shopping in Havant town centre: a local guide
Meridian Shopping, West Street, Market Parade and the town market — where to shop in the heart of Havant.
Havant's town centre is a compact, largely pedestrianised shopping area built around the old market-town crossroads of West Street, East Street, North Street and South Street.
Meridian Shopping
The main covered shopping precinct is Meridian Shopping, formerly known as the Meridian Centre, off West Street. It brings together high-street names and everyday shops under one roof and is the anchor of the town-centre retail offer.
West Street and Market Parade
The pedestrianised West Street is the town's main shopping street, lined with a mix of independent shops, national chains, cafes, banks and takeaways. The nearby Market Parade precinct has a dense cluster of takeaways, cafes and independent food outlets. A street market is regularly held in the town centre, continuing a tradition that dates back to the 13th-century market charter.
Getting there and parking
Havant railway station is a few minutes' walk north of the shops, with direct trains from Portsmouth, Chichester, Southampton, Brighton, Guildford and London Waterloo. There are several car parks in and around the centre, and the town is easily reached from the A3(M) and A27. Check current parking charges and locations on the Havant Borough Council website before you travel.
Nearby
Just south of the centre, the waterside village of Langstone offers a scenic contrast with its harbour, historic pubs and the start of the Hayling Billy Trail. To the north, Staunton Country Park is a large free-to-enter park on the edge of Leigh Park.
